Genesis & The Visionary Pioneers
On 2nd January 1995, Shankardev Shishu Vidya Niketan, Nowboicha (originally known as Shankardev Shishu Niketan) was founded through the noble vision and collective resolve of prominent intellectuals, education lovers, and social organizers of Nowboicha.
Among those visionary stalwarts were Shri Nara Kakati (then Headmaster of local Nowboicha High School), Bholaram Dutta, Soneswar Nath, Purna Prasad Baruah, Brajen Bora, Dilip Kakati, and many respected citizens of Nowboicha.
Furthermore, the guidance and tireless support of then RSS Lakhimpur District Pracharak Shri Brahmaji Rao, esteemed businessman Late Champak Dutta of Lakhimpur, and Shri Tondreswar Dutta, then Pradhan Acharya of Lakhimpur Shankardev Shishu Vidya Niketan, laid the bedrock of this educational movement.
Over the years, a multitude of generous local citizens have enriched this institution physically, mentally, and financially, creating an enduring legacy of community-led education.

Led by Founding Pradhan Acharya Shri Bhushan Goswami alongside 5 pioneering Acharyas: Shri Rupeswar Dutta, Smt. Deepika Hazarika, Shri Dwipen Dutta, and Shri Ghanakanta Nath.
Dedicated Staff (Seva Karmis)
Supported from day one by two dedicated staff members, Smt. Bakuli Bora and Shri Anil Bora, who served the school with devotion.
First Batch & Classes
Schooling commenced with 55 students across Ankur, Mukul, and Class 1, receiving formal registration and approval up to Class 5 from Shishu Shiksha Samiti Assam in 1995.
Early Challenges & Community Philanthropy
Founding an institution is challenging, but sustaining and administering it requires extraordinary sacrifice. When faced with initial financial hurdles, the founding pioneers resolved them directly from their personal savings.
Community Benefactors
Generous local parents and patrons stepped forward with heartfelt donations, including Shri Kiran Baruah (Rampur), Smt. Subha Devi (Gendhali), Shri Niron Bora (Perabhari), and Shri Jayanta Dutta (Kowadanga).
Student Commute Rickshaws
To ferry young students safely to the campus, Shri Bholaram Dutta, Shri Jiten Bhuyan, and Shri Soneswar Nath each donated a passenger rickshaw.
Classroom Furniture
Essential school furniture and wooden desks were generously contributed by Shri Tonk Deva Mahanta and Late Akon Kalita.
Door-to-Door Enrollment Outreach
Acharyas and committee members visited village homes personally to explain Vidya Bharati educational goals and enroll children. Cultural assemblies were organized, drawing visits from then Lakhimpur DC Longki Phangcho, Smt. Dali Phatowali, and prominent businessman Uday Shankar Hazarika.
From Bamboo & Thatch to a Sprawling 6-Bigha Campus
Initial Campus (1995)
Constructed on a 2-Bigha government allotment using bamboo, thatch, and woven cane (tarja) structures.
Present Infrastructure
Now expanded across 6 Bighas of land featuring 4 Assam-type building blocks, a modern 2-storey RCC academic building, and a dedicated Shishu Kunja / Shishu Batika early childhood block.

14 Academic Classes
From Ankur (Pre-Primary) to Class XII (Higher Secondary) with two sections each, accommodating 770 students (340 boys and 430 girls).
Dedicated Shishu Batika
Early childhood learners receive activity-based care and nurturing in an independent, child-friendly Shishu Batika wing.
Panchapadi Methodology
Teaching employs Vidya Bharati innovative Panchapadi system and Panch-Aadhaar-Bhut Shiksha, combined with Computer Education and specialized mentorship for boys and girls from Class 6 to 12.

Regional Shishu Samaroh & AIR Dibrugarh
In 1997, 12 students and 2 teachers represented the Niketan at the Regional Shishu Samaroh in Guwahati. In 2002, students performed in the musical program "Seuji Chora" broadcast by All India Radio Dibrugarh led by Acharyas Diganta Hazarika and Rupanjali Gogoi.
